Summer’s Bloom – Abstract Floral Painting in Pastel Tones

I’m delighted to introduce my latest piece, Summer’s Bloom – now available in my Etsy shop. This original acrylic painting has been a long and thoughtful journey, one that reflects my deep connection to nature and the emotional flow of the creative process.

Inspiration from Nature and the Season

The idea for Summer’s Bloom came from the beauty of this time of year—sunlight, warmth, and the abundance of floral life. Nature always inspires me, not only in what I see but in how it makes me feel. This painting is my response to the calm, delicate, yet vibrant energy that summer brings.

Through this piece, I wanted to express both the fragility and strength of the natural world—a reminder of its beauty, its need for care, and the peace it can offer us when we pause to connect with it.



The Creative Process

Created primarily with acrylic paint, Summer’s Bloom also includes subtle touches of mixed media—pencil, pen, chalk, and pastel. These layers add soft textures and delicate marks, giving the work both depth and intimacy.

My process is intuitive and reflective. Often, the painting shifts direction as I work, and Summer’s Bloom took several stages of stepping back, considering, and adjusting. That ongoing dialogue with the canvas is what allows the painting to balance between abstract expression and floral representation, with soft pastel tones guiding the mood.

A Finishing Touch – The Floating Frame

This piece is beautifully presented in a white floating frame, a detail that I feel completes it perfectly. Floating frames give the canvas structure and presence without interfering with the composition. They allow the artwork to “breathe,” offering balance and elegance.

The finished dimensions, including the frame, are 62.5cm x 88cm—a striking yet versatile size for a living room, bedroom, or creative space.


What Summer’s Bloom Represents

To me, this painting is a reflection of the natural world’s delicate beauty and its calming influence. The soft petals, subtle pastel palette, and expressive marks invite the viewer to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with nature.
